Re: California’s Third Black Owned Radio Station To Launch In Oxnard

The Community Advocacy Coalition invites the general public to come celebrate one of Oxnard’s newest community-based radio stations: 99.1 FM rhythmofthecoast.com VIP Launch Party.

The party will take place on Saturday, December 15, from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Oxnard College, 4000 South Rose Avenue, on the large lawn area in front of the school’s gymnasium.

The celebration is meant to highlight the live launch of one of California’s newest black owned and operated radio stations. It is volunteer based and broadcasts live on the campus of Oxnard College.

“I want people to come out to see the growth that is taking place in Oxnard, and that growth is going to be through 99.1 FM rhythmofthecoast.com.” said Chondra Ward, the coordinator for the launch party. “People, especially African-American and underserved communities, can have their own voice on the station as a radio air personality.”

The event will feature live entertainment from special guests R&B singer and inspirational speaker Sade Champagne, Christian rapper Antwon King, and local rap artists Keyi and Silky Turner, who form the husband/wife music duo KNS Rockstar

The artists and their music all have roots in Oxnard.

“They all originated out of Oxnard,” said Ward. “They’re all local artists. They have all dedicated their talent to the community of Oxnard and have done multiple performances and events.”

The event is free. Parking is available at no cost around the gym and the radio station. To give the planners a sense of how many are coming, please rsvp to eventbrite at:
